Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 29 Aug 2009 - Strongman Yoke and Powerlifting Club Squats

Strongman Spotlight

Now er'body knows what Sam The Hulk can do.
The 50 million cent question is how does he do it?

Why not let the man show you for himself over at our Behemoths Lair in Hong Lim Park!

The ever-loving Hulk shows the members how he got the fastest time for the HomeTeamNS Strongman Yoke Event this year. For his willingness in dispensing advice and friendliness shown towards all the members and for being the jolly green giant that he is - The Hulk has smashed his way into the Strongman Spotlight this week.

Ben seeing to it that the members keep their back straight and core tight before lift off.

Hitting the Strongman Yoke is a sure fire way to build size and strength.
But you gotta be prepared to sweat for it. Check out the drenched shirt!

With the Team behind you cheering you on, how can it not bring out the best in you?

Hey look it's Marius Pudzianowski!
Nah, false alert! Marius's much shorter.

Powerlifting Club - Squats

Tired of seeing 1/4 squats, pseudo parallel and basically just half-assed squats,
Sam shows it's time to get serious about Powerlifting legal Squats.

Depth before dishonour. Hip below crease of knee.

The following are from our 2pm session:

Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 22 Aug 2009 - Strongman Sled Pulls and Tug of War

Feel like trying out for the 4 tonne HomeTeamNS Rhino Vehicle Pull Challenge?
And wondering if you'll move it?
Our collective expeience here tells us if you manage to tug our sled successfully with about 240kg on, moving the Rhino will be like a walk in the park (pun intended)!
"Why?"
"Cos the Rhino's got wheels but the Sled doesn't!"
But after some sessions of serious Sled Pulling with us, you'll have a decent pair of wheels (read: legs) on yourself too, Brother!

Ryan, our speedster, straps up for warm up sprints with 80kg.

A new, more efficient starting technique is being put to the test.

The guys exhorting and cheering Kesavan to the finish line.
We have an enviroment that brings out your best!

Despite having only a few structured sessions under his belt, new guy Kesavan can add a 160kg Sled over 15m to his proud list of accomplishments here.

Tug Of War
Our preparation in building a team of members to compete in Tug Of War competitions takes another strong step forward with every session. This Strength Supplementary Drill definitely builds team spirit and cohesiveness like none other.

Our Anchorman, Sam! All 130kg of The Hulk shares some vital pointers with the new members.

And they're off! 1-2 Pull!!!

Strongman Spotlight

First timer, Raphael, 17, goes for a valiant attempt on the 240kg sled and gets a taste of how pulling the HomeTeamNS Rhino will feel like.
For his strong show of spirit, he has earned his spot in today's Strongman Spotlight.
Raphael wrote in to us after the session as well -
"Hi, I would like to write in on my experience at today's session.Personally, I enjoyed it very much! Strongman training was a whole new level compared to conventional gym lifts such as the "Big 3" or HIIT. It seemed to combine everything together, and got my heart pumping pretty hard (Which is a good thing). Throughout the session, I can feel the blood rushing through my veins, and the constant cheerings from everyone spurred me only to work harder. In a nutshell, I would like to commend on Team Iron Behemoths for being marvelous guides and training companions and I look forward to future sessions, getting stronger safely (AND WITHOUT JUICE OF COURSE), with everyone! Cheers!"

We are proud to have you in the team, Raphael! Let's get stronger together!

You, avid reader, are invited to join us for our journey in Strength too!

Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 15 Aug 2009 - Strongman Tyre Flips (Tertiary Style)

Sometimes it takes two.

Two people taking on Abigiail the Tyre, that is.

A la the HometeamNS Tertiary Level Tyre Flip Challenge where two teammates combine their strength to flip a 250kg tyre across 20m.

But Abigail is a different MuthaTrucking thing altogether.

Can our members tame her?

You bet your gym membership they can! They are Team Iron Behemoths trained!

The team of Ty and Kev comes in with a very commendable second fastest timing of the session.

Strong(boys) Spotlight

Team Valerie comes in tops with the best timing of the day and set the record for our Tertiary Style Tyre Flips over 20m.

And just a pair of 17yr old Junior College Students at that!
Albeit well trained ones.

Hint: They train with us and you might want to do the same.

Grab a buddy and come on down for your FREE First Timer Trial Session.
To book, simply email us at teamironbehemoths@gmail.com or call/text 91011721.

If they can do it, so can you!

Strength Supplementary Drills- "Behemoth and Bone"

This is our take on the age old 'Dog and Bone' training drill where speed and agility are needed in large amounts. We threw in the need for strength into the mix as well.
The name of the game is to retrieve the ball set equidistant from you and your opponent.
Get the ball back to your base using your speed, agility, strength or all three!

The 100kg Bryan can't stop the Orient Express steamrolling to victory.

Our young guns tussle, not giving an inch to another.

Ryan's speed seals the win.

We too received a winning feedback from all our members for this and we'll be certain throw in more of our Strength Supplemenary Drills in future.
Watch this space!
Or even better make this space yours by joining the fun!

Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 8 Aug 2009 - Strongman Farmer's Walk and Powerlifting Club Bench

Strongmen Spotlight

Double Impact!
Newcomers Mitchell and Ty take the Spotlight today for their herculean efforts in the Farmer's Walk.

Mitchell put in a good timing for the 50kg-a-side pass with all eyes on him.

The Team rising to cheer him on for very respectable 70kg-a-side pass.

Mitchell standing atop 70kg-a-hand farmer's walk victorious.

Ty was not to be outdone though. Such is the atmosphere here that just drives you on!
Ty matched up to his fellow Behemoth with 140kg under his belt and no quit in him.

Kudos to them both and the rest of the members who rose to the occasion.
The reward is in getting stronger!

Powerlifting Club - Bench

The Hulk in the house today addressing "Pressing Issues" - giving pointers and showing the members what a Bench Press ought to be.

Mitchell benches safely with his spotters looking on.

Ty learning to control his breathing while benching.

Kesavan with yet another PB.

Structured Strongman Training Session Highlights: 1 Aug 2009 - Strongman Tyre Flip

Strongman Spotlight

Kesavan, 23, wrote in to us wanting to take us up on our FREE First Timer Trial Session. We were happy to oblige. We coached him on tyre flipping techniques and the powerlift of the day, the Deadlift.

Needless to say, we got him a new PR (Personal Record).

This is what we do over here at Team Iron Behemoths.

But don't just take our word for it, here's what Kesavan wrote in to say:

" Thank u....I had my free first timer training session with team behemoth strongman club on 1 Aug 2009. I flipped the 200kg tire for 10 reps and managed to flip the 300kg tire at least once for a rep.I felt proud with my performance.

Then later, suprisingly, i pulled a impossible 130kg deadlift for 1 rep max surpassing my previous 120kg.

The guys there were very motivating and they encouraged me. It was a very fruitful training session.I am looking forward to train with them sooner...."

Make the first step like Kesavan.
