Medley training was introduced today’s session. Medleys usually involve two or three moving events performed back to back with no rest in between. This involves a great deal of not just maximal strength, but also conditioning and mental resilience. With the whole array of Strongman implements we have, the permutations for medleys at our facility are well varied-hence this form of training would never be a monotonous affair.
Our members dipped their toes into the water with a watered down medley in today’s session. The components of the medley are as follows: 1) 200kg tire-five flips 2) 250kg tire-three flips 3) farmer’s walks-60kg over 10m with turn at the halfway mark. Members went through two rounds of this circuit and all of them managed to complete it. After the circuits, all of them expressed words of satisfaction in between grasps of breaths. This clearly manifested the tough conditioning aspect of the medley.
In the Strongman Spotlight today is Spencer.
Despite his relatively low training age, he managed to complete two circuits. Insofar as he had to pause on a few occasions, that he managed to negotiate the medleys attested to the indomitable spirit we inculcate in all our members. Maybe it was the fact that everyone completed it too that spurred him to get the best out of himself.
Spencer has made improvements in leaps and bounds in his progress ever since he joined us. Spencer, a big thumbs up for you!
Next we have our weekly, Powerlifting Club. The Lift of The Day was the Deadlift.
Bryan and Yoshida went head to head in the race to who see who prevailed this time round. Even though they were already exhausted from medley training previously, they still kept to the spirit of competing by giving what was left in their tanks. The upshot was that Bryan and Yoshida were both tied at 180kg. Draw!
