Structured Strongman Session Highlights: 28 Feb 2009 - Strongman Yoke and Log

Strongman Training Session Highlights: 28 February 2009- Yoke Walks and Log Presses

This is the first session where members get to train with our latest piece of equipment-the Strongman Yoke.

The Super Yoke is an event where the athlete lifts a large, upside-down "U" shaped implement from the ground and carries it for a given distance as fast as possible. It builds tremendous leg strength and size while your core muscles are put to the test.

Think it's too hard for you? She didn't.

This segment was dominated by a new face. Her physical stats read only 1.6m and 50kg but discount the strength, both physical and mental, in this petite lady at your own peril.

She is the first female to do a yoke walk with over 3 times bodyweight!

Yes, Fengyi our newest female member, never expected that she would be able to handle such a hefty weight.

But in the competition atmosphere we created at our Structured Training Sessions - Anything's possible!

The annals thus read : Fengyi-Yoke walk: 30m x 175kg.

The male members definitely upped their game after witnessing Fengyi’s feats. Even Perry who came for the free trial session session hit 180kg with everyone cheering him on. In only his first attempt ever at strongman training. Good attempt mate!

Log presses

Despite having their lower bodies zapped after doing the yoke, our members were still bustling with enthusiasm for some upper body work. Again, the star of the show was Fengyi.

She again made history by being the first female to be able to press the log without assistance.

Our latest member Bryan, a personal trainer, also showed what a strong contender he is by pressing 87.5kg. With more practice and refinements in technique, the sky is truly the limit for Bryan. Watch out for him at next year’s Qualifiers!

Spence is on the way to his fitness goals

Perry will get there too
